The best Christmas gifts for dog owners are either deeply personal (a keepsake of their own dog) or genuinely useful for winter (gear that makes cold walks easier). The ideal gift often does both. Below are ideas by type and budget, plus timing tips, because personalized gifts need a head start in December.
Personalized gifts they'll keep for years
- A custom figurine of their dog. A small 3D likeness looks great under the tree and stays on a shelf long after the holidays. At Chibiyo, we create chibi-style figurines of about 8 to 10 cm from photos of the dog, 3D printed in up to four colours in Québec and packed in a gift box with the dog's name. You approve a 3D preview before printing. See how it works.
- A personalized ornament with the dog's name or photo, for a new tradition every year.
- A framed portrait drawn or painted from a favourite photo.
- A photo book of the dog's year: walks, naps, the first snow.
Winter walk essentials
In much of Canada and the northern U.S., December means salt, slush and early sunsets. Useful gifts here get used every single day.
- Paw balm or protective wax against salt and ice.
- Dog boots, if the dog tolerates them (check the size first).
- A reflective or light-up collar or leash for dark evening walks.
- A warm coat for short-haired or small dogs.
- Good winter gloves for the human, ideally ones that work with a phone and a leash.
- A towel or drying mat by the door for wet, snowy paws.
Stocking stuffers
- Durable chew toys sized for the dog.
- Treats from a local bakery for dogs.
- A poop-bag holder that clips to the leash.
- A dog-themed mug or socks, for a light touch.
Experiences instead of things
- A training or agility class they've talked about.
- A professional grooming session before the holiday visits.
- A pet photo session, many photographers run holiday mini-sessions.
- Offering your time: dog-sitting so they can enjoy a holiday party.
Match the gift to the owner
- The new puppy owner: a training class, durable chew toys and an encouraging card.
- The outdoor adventurer: a hands-free leash, a collapsible water bowl, a headlamp for early-morning walks.
- The senior dog's human: an orthopedic bed, a ramp for the car or couch, or a keepsake of the dog while they're still together.
- The busy professional: a few prepaid dog-walking sessions or a slow feeder to make mealtime last.
Timing: order personalized gifts early
Custom gifts are made one at a time, and holiday shipping gets busier as December goes on. A few habits help:
- Start in November if you can, especially for anything made from photos.
- Gather photos first. A sharp, well-lit shot of the dog's face from the front is the most important; more angles help capture markings. Here's which photos to take.
- Check the maker's current timelines before ordering, instead of assuming. Our FAQ covers how Chibiyo orders work.
- Have a backup: if time runs short, a card announcing the gift ("your dog's figurine is on its way") works well under the tree.
Choosing by budget
- Small budget: paw balm, treats, a reflective leash, a heartfelt card about the dog.
- Medium budget: a good coat, an ornament, a photo book.
- Bigger budget: a custom figurine or portrait, a training class, a photo session.

FAQ
What do you give a dog owner who has everything?
Something about their own dog: a figurine, a portrait or a photo book. It can't be bought in a store.
Is a personalized gift risky if I'm not sure of the details?
Double-check the dog's name spelling and markings. Choose a maker who shows you a preview before making it. Chibiyo sends a 3D preview to approve, and refunds in full as long as printing hasn't started.
How much does a custom dog figurine cost?
Chibiyo figurines cost $79 CAD, shipping included in Canada (founders' price for the first 100 figurines; regular price after that: $89 CAD). Hand-sculpted pieces typically cost more.
Can I order now?
Chibiyo is in pre-launch. Join the waitlist on our home page to hear when orders open. At launch, we ship only within Canada (shipping included, with tracking).
