For a personalized gift to arrive before Christmas 2026 in Canada, start from Canada Post's last shipping date for your zone and subtract the maker's production time. For a parcel sent by Expedited Parcel, Canada Post's last dates are December 22 (local), December 18 (regional) and December 14 (national), so most custom gifts made in Canada should be ordered in late November, and pieces made to order abroad or by hand often by early November.
Canada Post dates come from its official holiday page, marked "October 2026" (checked October 7, 2026). Seller lead times were checked on the sellers' pages the same day. Dates can change: check again before you order.
Canada Post's 2026 holiday shipping deadlines
Last recommended dates to send a parcel within Canada so it arrives before Christmas, according to Canada Post's holiday sending guidelines:
| Zone | Priority | Xpresspost | Expedited Parcel or flat rate box | Regular Parcel |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Local | Dec. 23 | Dec. 23 | Dec. 22 | Dec. 21 |
| Regional | Dec. 23 | Dec. 22 | Dec. 18 | Dec. 16 |
| National | Dec. 23 | Dec. 22 | Dec. 14 | Dec. 10 |
For cards, Canada Post recommends mailing by December 22 (local), December 21 (regional) and December 18 (national).
Canada Post says these dates are "between major urban centres and are dependent on origin and destination". Your zone depends on where the parcel leaves from and where it goes. For the exact delivery standard between two postal codes, use its delivery standards tool.
How to calculate your order date
The shipping deadline is the date the maker must mail your gift, not the date you order. Work backwards:
- Find the maker's last shipping date in the table above (their service, your zone).
- Subtract the production time they announce, in business days.
- Subtract the preview time if you have to approve a sketch or 3D preview first (many makers only start once you approve).
- Keep a few days of margin. December is the busiest month for makers and carriers.
Example: a maker in another province announces 10 business days of production and ships by Expedited Parcel (national zone, December 14). Counting back 10 business days from Monday, December 14, 2026 gives Monday, November 30, 2026 as the very last day to order. With a few days of margin, aim for around November 25. (Our calculation, weekdays only, statutory holidays not counted.)
Lead times announced by sellers of personalized gifts
| Type of gift | Lead time announced | What it means for Christmas |
|---|---|---|
| Printed pet portrait (made from a photo, ships from abroad) | Crown & Paw: artwork ready 2 to 3 days after the order, printed and shipped 1 to 2 days after you approve it; international parcels take 5 to 10 days after shipping. | Their FAQ advises ordering "no later than December 10th for Christmas delivery" and says final cut-off dates will be announced later. |
| 3D-printed pet figurine (made abroad) | SnapFigures: 10 to 15 business days of crafting after you approve the preview, plus 7 to 15 business days of shipping (to the US and EU; Canada not specified). Digxipop: processed for shipping within 7 to 9 business days, shipping time extra. | Up to about 30 business days for SnapFigures: order by around November 12, 2026, before preview time (our calculation). |
| Custom plush | Cuddle Clones: about 8 weeks of standard production, shipping extra. | Its Christmas 2026 deadlines apply to US orders only: December 10 with next-day production and expedited shipping (paid options); slower options close earlier, starting November 2, 2026. No Canadian deadline is published. |
| Hand-painted portrait or artist sculpture | No standard: it depends on the artist and their waiting list. | Often several weeks (estimate). Ask the artist for their last Christmas date before you order. |
For gifts shipped from outside Canada, also plan for possible duties, taxes and fees at the border. Our pet figurine cost guide lists the thresholds from the Canada Border Services Agency.
What can slow things down in December
- Labour disruptions. In 2024, Canada Post workers were on strike from November 15 until the labour board ordered them back to work on December 17 (CBC News). On June 1, 2026, Canada Post announced that its CUPW-represented employees had voted to accept new collective agreements, in place until January 31, 2029 (Canada Post).
- Looser guarantees during peak season. For items shipped between November 3, 2025 and January 11, 2026, Canada Post only accepted late-delivery claims for Priority, Xpresspost and Expedited Parcel if the item arrived two or more business days late (Canada Post notice, 2025). We did not find a 2026 notice on October 7, 2026.
- Smaller towns and remote areas. The dates above are between major urban centres, and Canada Post notes that exceptions apply in some areas: check the delivery standards tool for your postal code.
- The preview step. If the maker waits for your approval, every day you take to answer pushes the shipping date.
If you are running late
- Choose a faster service if the maker offers it: Priority and Xpresspost have later deadlines (December 22 or 23).
- Give the gift in two steps: a card under the tree announcing the gift, with a printed photo of the preview or of the pet, and the real gift in January.
- Look for a maker close to the recipient: the local zone has the latest dates.
A personalized gift made in Québec
For transparency: this guide is published by Chibiyo, a small shop in Québec (currently in pre-launch). We make chibi-style figurines of pets (about 8–10 cm, 3D-printed in PLA with up to 4 colours) for $89 CAD with free shipping in Canada; founders' price: $79 for the first 100 figurines (at the latest until November 30; regular price after that: $89). We ship within Canada only. Your figurine ships 3 to 5 business days after you approve its 3D preview, by Canada Post with tracking; for Christmas, order by December 1. AI helps us draw the chibi version and build the 3D model. A person checks every model, and you approve the preview before printing.

FAQ
What is the last day to mail a parcel in Canada for Christmas 2026?
According to Canada Post, December 14 (national), December 18 (regional) and December 22 (local) for Expedited Parcel, and December 22 or 23 for Xpresspost and Priority. Regular Parcel closes earliest: December 10 for the national zone.
When should I order a personalized gift for Christmas?
Take the maker's shipping deadline for your zone and subtract their production time and any preview step. For most custom gifts made in Canada, that means late November; for items made to order abroad or by hand, often early November.
Are Canada Post's dates guaranteed?
They are recommended dates between major urban centres and depend on origin and destination. In the 2025 peak season, Canada Post only accepted late-delivery claims on its guaranteed services if the item was two or more business days late.
What if my gift will not arrive in time?
Give a card with a photo of the gift or its preview on Christmas Day, and the gift itself when it arrives. Next time, aim for the end of November.
