The best personalized gifts made in Québec combine a local maker with a detail only the recipient will recognize: their name engraved in wood, their pet as a figurine, their street drawn by a local illustrator. Buying local keeps money in the community, often shortens shipping and lets you talk directly with the person making the gift. Here are ideas across budgets and tastes, and where to find Québec makers.
Why buy a personalized gift from a Québec maker
- It comes with a story. "Made in Québec by an artisan in the Eastern Townships" means more than a barcode.
- You can ask questions. Small makers usually answer directly, which matters for anything custom.
- It supports local jobs and keeps traditional and new crafts alive.
Ideas for the home
- An engraved cutting board or serving board in maple or cherry, with a family name or a recipe in a grandparent's handwriting.
- Custom pottery: a mug or bowl with initials, made by a local ceramist.
- An illustrated map or house portrait of a meaningful place, like a first apartment, a cottage or a hometown.
- A personalized candle or soap set from a local soap maker, with a custom label.
Ideas to wear
- Engraved jewellery with initials, coordinates or a date.
- Embroidered clothing: a sweater or tote with a name, a pet or a small drawing.
- Handmade knitwear in custom colours, practical for our winters.
Ideas for pet lovers
- A custom figurine of their pet. At Chibiyo, we turn photos of a dog or cat into a chibi-style figurine of about 8 to 10 cm, 3D printed in up to four colours here in Québec and delivered in a gift box with the pet's name. You approve a 3D preview before printing. See how it works.
- A pet portrait by a local illustrator or painter.
- A personalized collar or name tag from a local leather worker.
- Treats from a Québec dog bakery, in a box with the pet's name.

Gourmet and experience ideas
- A local food basket with maple products, cheeses, preserves or chocolate, plus a handwritten card.
- A workshop: pottery, woodworking or jewellery-making with a local artisan, so they create their own personalized piece.
- A custom photo book printed by a local print shop.
Ideas by occasion
- Christmas: a personalized ornament from a local maker, or a food basket with a custom card.
- Housewarming: an engraved board or an illustrated portrait of the new home.
- Wedding or anniversary: engraved jewellery with the date, or custom pottery for two.
- A pet lover's birthday: a figurine or a portrait of their pet.
- A thank-you gift: local candles or soaps with a personalized label.
Where to find Québec makers
- Le Panier Bleu, the directory of Québec businesses, to search by product or region.
- Craft shows, such as the Salon des métiers d'art du Québec in Montréal and Plein Art in Québec City.
- Christmas markets and public markets in your area, often the easiest place to meet makers in person.
- Online marketplaces, filtered by location, then check the maker's own site or social accounts.
- Local boutiques that specialize in Québec products.
Tips for ordering custom work
- Order early. Personalized pieces are made one by one; check each maker's current timelines rather than assuming.
- Double-check spelling of names, dates and accents (é, è, ç).
- Ask for a proof or preview before the item is made.
- Ask about refunds for custom work, since policies vary a lot.
