Turned Your Pet Into an AI Figurine? Here's How to Get a Real One

An AI figurine image of your pet is a picture, not a 3D model, so it can't be sent straight to a 3D printer. To get a real one, you need a maker who builds an actual 3D model from photos of your pet (the AI image can help show the style you like), then prints and finishes it. Here's how the trend works, why the jump to a real object takes a human step, and how to do it.

The trend in a nutshell

In 2025, two waves of AI images took over social feeds. First came the "action figure" and "starter pack" images made with ChatGPT's image tool: people (and their pets) shown as boxed toys. Then Google's Gemini image model, nicknamed "Nano Banana," made hyper-realistic 3D figurine images of people, pets and celebrities go viral, often shown on a desk next to a toy box.

Pets were a natural fit. The result looks like a product photo of a collectible you could buy — which is exactly why so many people then ask: "Can I get this for real?"

Why you can't just print the AI image

  • It's one flat view. The image shows a single angle. A printer needs a full 3D model: back, underside, paws, tail.
  • The AI invents details. Look closely and the ears, markings or paws may not match your real pet, or may change from one image to the next.
  • Printability is a design job. A real figurine needs a stable base, parts thick enough not to snap, and colours that a printer can reproduce.
  • Branded packaging is off-limits. Many AI images copy logos or toy-box designs that belong to real companies. A legitimate maker won't reproduce those.

How to get a real figurine of your pet

  1. Pick the look you want. Realistic, hand-sculpted, or a cute stylized version like chibi. Your AI image can help you decide.
  2. Gather real photos of your pet. A front view, a side view and a close-up of markings. These are what make it look like YOUR pet, not an AI guess.
  3. Choose a maker that shows a preview. A 3D preview lets you catch mistakes before anything is printed.
  4. Share the AI image as inspiration, if the maker accepts it. Ask first; it's a style reference, not a blueprint.
  5. Approve, then wait for production and shipping.

At Chibiyo, this is our whole process: you send 2–3 photos of your pet, we design a chibi figurine (about 8–10 cm), you approve the 3D preview, and we print it in colour in our Québec workshop. It ships in a gift box with your pet's name, with tracking to Canada and the United States.

AI image vs. real figurine

  • Cost: the AI image is free or nearly free; a real figurine is a crafted object with materials and work behind it.
  • Accuracy: AI guesses; a maker works from your actual photos and you can ask for corrections.
  • What you get: a fun post vs. something you can put on a shelf or give as a gift.

Tips if you love the AI version

  • Save the image and use it to explain the pose or mood you want.
  • Don't expect a 1:1 copy, especially of AI-invented packaging or backgrounds.
  • Keep the best real photos of your pet in one folder; they're the real ingredient.

A quick note on privacy

Before uploading photos to any AI app or maker, check how your images are stored and used. Photos of your pet are usually low-risk, but avoid sending pictures that show your address, your kids' faces or other personal details in the background.

FAQ

Can I 3D print my ChatGPT or Gemini figurine image?

Not directly. The image is 2D. Someone has to build a 3D model, ideally from real photos of your pet, before it can be printed.

Can AI create a 3D model of my pet?

Some AI tools can generate rough 3D models, but they usually need cleanup by a person to be accurate and printable.

Will the real figurine look exactly like my AI image?

Probably not exactly, and that's good: it should look like your real pet. A preview step lets you check before printing.
